Dental Crowns in North York

Oftentimes, dental bonding may not be enough to protect heavily filled teeth from further deterioration, which is where dental crowns come into play. Dental crowns are made of ceramic material and cover damaged teeth.

Why Choose Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns offer a wide range of benefits and are employed in various situations to help us save teeth. Here are some scenarios where a dental crown may be the ideal solution:

  • Root Canal Therapy: After undergoing root canal therapy, a dental crown is essential to properly seal and protect the treated tooth, ensuring long-term oral health.
  • Cracked Tooth: If you have a cracked tooth, it's crucial not to delay treatment. A dental crown can hold the tooth together and prevent further damage, sensitivity, or a complete fracture.
  • Broken Tooth: A broken tooth may be too weak for a standard filling. A dental crown will reinforce the tooth, preventing future breaks. In some cases, root canal therapy may be necessary before crowning a deeply fractured tooth.
  • Tooth Sensitivity: Teeth that are sensitive due to wear or receding gums can benefit from dental crowns. Crowns provide a protective barrier against temperature sensitivity, enhancing your comfort.
  • Large Fillings: When larger fillings break down or develop decay around them, dental crowns can be a lifesaver. They help salvage the tooth and ensure its longevity.

The Dental Crown Procedure

A dental crown procedure at our Concorde Dental consists of two steps:

  1. First, your tooth (and surrounding teeth if needed) will be shaped and prepared to accommodate the crown. Our North York dental team will make an impression of the tooth and send it to the lab. In the meantime, a temporary crown will be placed on the tooth.
  2. The second step will be in a few weeks, at which point the temporary crown will be removed and the custom-fitted dental crown will be placed.

At Concorde Dental, our dental team will assess your unique needs based on your oral health and the condition of your teeth.
